Service Description
NAEMT’s Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course prepares prehospital care professionals to assess and manage patients experiencing traumatic injuries. Developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, PHTLS emphasizes critical thinking, sound decision-making, and evidence-based trauma care. WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE? This course is designed for emergency medical responders and other professionals involved in providing prehospital trauma care. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN • Physiology of life and death • Scene assessment • Systematic patient assessment • Hemorrhage control • Airway management • Breathing, ventilation, and oxygenation • Circulation and shock • Care for special populations • Critical thinking when treating multisystem trauma patients COURSE FORMAT This hybrid course combines online coursework with instructor-led, in-person trauma training. Participants must complete the required online portion before attending the classroom session. The in-person portion provides an opportunity to apply course concepts through instructor-led activities, patient assessments, and trauma-management scenarios. SCHEDULE This course is offered on the third Saturday of each month. Participants should review the booking calendar for upcoming dates and availability.
Cancellation Policy
STUDENT CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULING We understand that plans can change. To cancel or reschedule your registration, please use the Manage Booking link included in your confirmation email or contact us at least 24 hours before the scheduled start of your class. Cancellations and rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before the class, as well as failure to attend, are not eligible for a refund. For blended-learning courses, fees associated with online course materials may be nonrefundable once the materials or access link have been issued. CANCELLATIONS OR SCHEDULE CHANGES BY THE TRAINING PROVIDER If we need to cancel a class, registered students will be notified as soon as possible and may choose to transfer their registration to another available date or receive a full refund. If we need to reschedule a class, registered students will be notified of the new date and time. If the new schedule does not work for a student, they may transfer their registration to another available class or request a full refund. We are not responsible for additional expenses resulting from a class cancellation or schedule change, including travel, lodging, childcare or lost wages. Classes are offered at scheduled training locations throughout Colorado Springs. The exact location is provided during registration.
