Service Description

The American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Initial Course prepares healthcare professionals to assess, recognize, and respond to life-threatening emergencies involving infants and children. The course uses interactive scenarios and hands-on practice to strengthen clinical decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE? This course is designed for healthcare professionals who participate in the assessment and treatment of critically ill pediatric patients in hospital, prehospital, and out-of-hospital settings. This may include physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare clinicians. Participants must be proficient in child and infant Basic Life Support skills before taking this course. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN Course topics include: • Pediatric patient assessment • Recognition and treatment of respiratory emergencies • Management of shock • Recognition and treatment of cardiac emergencies • Pediatric cardiac rhythm interpretation • Advanced interventions and medication concepts • High-quality pediatric resuscitation • Care following the return of spontaneous circulation • Critical thinking and clinical decision-making • Communication and teamwork during pediatric emergencies COURSE FORMAT This course is offered in a blended-learning format. Participants complete the online coursework and final written exam before attending an instructor-led, in-person skills session. During the skills session, participants demonstrate hands-on abilities and team-based emergency response skills to a certified Red Cross instructor. Blended learning generally requires less classroom time because the online coursework is completed in advance. CERTIFICATION After successfully completing all course requirements, participants receive an American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification valid for two years. Cancellation Policy
STUDENT CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULING We understand that plans can change. To cancel or reschedule your registration, please use the Manage Booking link included in your confirmation email or contact us at least 24 hours before the scheduled start of your class. Cancellations and rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before the class, as well as failure to attend, are not eligible for a refund. For blended-learning courses, fees associated with online course materials may be nonrefundable once the materials or access link have been issued. CANCELLATIONS OR SCHEDULE CHANGES BY THE TRAINING PROVIDER If we need to cancel a class, registered students will be notified as soon as possible and may choose to transfer their registration to another available date or receive a full refund. If we need to reschedule a class, registered students will be notified of the new date and time. If the new schedule does not work for a student, they may transfer their registration to another available class or request a full refund. We are not responsible for additional expenses resulting from a class cancellation or schedule change, including travel, lodging, childcare or lost wages. Classes are offered at scheduled training locations throughout Colorado Springs. The exact location is provided during registration.
