Service Description
The American Heart Association Basic Life Support course prepares healthcare professionals and other personnel to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies in clinical and prehospital settings. Participants learn how to provide high-quality CPR, deliver effective breaths and ventilations, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and work effectively as part of a multi-rescuer team. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants • Essential BLS concepts from the Chain of Survival • Proper delivery of breaths and ventilations • When and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) • Effective teamwork during multi-rescuer CPR • How to respond to choking in adults, children, and infants • The use of nasal Narcan WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE? This course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need CPR and basic cardiovascular life-support skills for employment in hospitals, medical facilities, emergency-response environments, or other prehospital settings. It is also appropriate for community members who want to be prepared to respond during an emergency. AVAILABLE COURSE FORMATS For online formats, complete the coursework first, then attend an in-person skills session. CLASSROOM TRAINING An instructor-led, in-person course that includes instruction, hands-on practice, and immediate feedback. • Classroom time: Approximately 4–4.5 hours, including breaks BLENDED LEARNING A flexible option that combines self-paced online coursework with a separate, instructor-led skills session. • Online coursework: Approximately 1–2 hours • In-person skills session: Approximately 1–2 hours • Before attending: Complete the required online coursework and bring proof of completion COURSE COMPLETION After successfully completing all requirements for the selected format, participants will receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard valid for two years. Continuing education or continuing medical education credits may also be available for eligible participants.
Cancellation Policy
STUDENT CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULING We understand that plans can change. To cancel or reschedule your registration, please use the Manage Booking link included in your confirmation email or contact us at least 24 hours before the scheduled start of your class. Cancellations and rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before the class, as well as failure to attend, are not eligible for a refund. For blended-learning courses, fees associated with online course materials may be nonrefundable once the materials or access link have been issued. CANCELLATIONS OR SCHEDULE CHANGES BY THE TRAINING PROVIDER If we need to cancel a class, registered students will be notified as soon as possible and may choose to transfer their registration to another available date or receive a full refund. If we need to reschedule a class, registered students will be notified of the new date and time. If the new schedule does not work for a student, they may transfer their registration to another available class or request a full refund. We are not responsible for additional expenses resulting from a class cancellation or schedule change, including travel, lodging, childcare or lost wages. Classes are offered at scheduled training locations throughout Colorado Springs. The exact location is provided during registration.
