Service Description

The American Red Cross Advanced Life Support (ALS) Initial Course prepares healthcare professionals and emergency responders to assess and manage adults experiencing life-threatening medical emergencies. The course builds on Basic Life Support knowledge and emphasizes advanced clinical decision-making, communication, and coordinated team response. WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE? This course is designed for healthcare professionals and emergency personnel who participate in the assessment and treatment of critically ill adult patients in hospital, prehospital, or out-of-hospital settings. Participants should already be proficient in adult Basic Life Support skills before taking this course. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN Topics covered may include: • Advanced patient assessment • High-quality CPR and Basic Life Support review • Airway management and respiratory emergencies • Recognition and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias • Defibrillation and other electrical interventions • Medication and vascular access concepts • Cardiac arrest and post-cardiac arrest care • Acute coronary syndromes and stroke • Communication, leadership, and team-based emergency response COURSE FORMAT This course is offered in a blended-learning format. Participants complete the required online coursework and written exam before attending an instructor-led, in-person skills session. During the skills session, participants practice and demonstrate the skills needed to respond effectively as part of an advanced life support team. CERTIFICATION After successfully completing the online coursework, written exam, and in-person skills session, participants receive an American Red Cross Advanced Life Support certificate valid for two years.
Cancellation Policy
STUDENT CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULING We understand that plans can change. To cancel or reschedule your registration, please use the Manage Booking link included in your confirmation email or contact us at least 24 hours before the scheduled start of your class. Cancellations and rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before the class, as well as failure to attend, are not eligible for a refund. For blended-learning courses, fees associated with online course materials may be nonrefundable once the materials or access link have been issued. CANCELLATIONS OR SCHEDULE CHANGES BY THE TRAINING PROVIDER If we need to cancel a class, registered students will be notified as soon as possible and may choose to transfer their registration to another available date or receive a full refund. If we need to reschedule a class, registered students will be notified of the new date and time. If the new schedule does not work for a student, they may transfer their registration to another available class or request a full refund. We are not responsible for additional expenses resulting from a class cancellation or schedule change, including travel, lodging, childcare or lost wages. Classes are offered at scheduled training locations throughout Colorado Springs. The exact location is provided during registration.
